Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is responsible for the overall direction of Caritas Health Shield. It is composed of 17 members, all of whom posses outstanding credentials in their respective fields. They guarantee the ongoing commitment to the company's growth and development and ensure that the company operates within the bounds of good corporate governance.

Rene V. Reyes, MD
Chairman of the Board

Chairman of the Board of Directors

Dr. Rene V. Reyes is a Cardiologist. He has extensive experience in the management of laboratories and diagnostic clinics.

Dr. Reyes earned his Bachelor’s Degree and Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of Santo Tomas.

Jay D. Crisostomo

Board Member

Dr. Jay D. Crisostomo is a Surgeon. He currently sits as board member of Caritas Health Shield, Inc., Caritas Life Insurance Corporation and Caritas Financial Plans, Inc. He is one of the founders of Pacific Global, Inc. and Commonwealth Hospital.

Dr. Crisostomo earned his bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of the Philippines, and his Doctor of Medicine degree from UERMMMC.

Ana Maria K. Escalona

Ms. Ana Maria K. Escalona served as Chief Operations Officer of Caritas Health Shield, Inc. for over two decades and as COO of Caritas Financial Plans, Inc. for more than ten years. She also served as President of Caritas Life Insurance Corporation.

Ms. Escalona earned her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from St. Theresa's College.

Mariano T. Katipunan, Jr.

Mr. Mariano T. Katipunan, Jr. served as Chief Finance Officer for over two decades prior to being President and Chief Executive Officer of Caritas Health Shield, Inc. He serves as President of Caritas Life Insurance Corporation and as Chief Finance Officer of Caritas Financial Plans, Inc. He also has years of experience in the banking industry and currently sits in the Board of Directors of the Bank of Commerce.

Mr. Katipunan holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics (Honor’s Program) from the Ateneo de Manila University and a master’s degree in Business Management from the Asian Institute of Management.

Ronnie U. Collado

Mr. Ronnie U. Collado is currently serving as the President and Chief Exective Officer of Caritas Financial Plans, Inc. He also sits as board member of Caritas Health Shield, Inc. and Caritas Life Insurance Corporation.

Mr. Collado holds a degree in Philosophy from Maryhurst in Baguio City and a post-graduate degree in Philosophy from Ateneo de Manila.

Gilda C. Lucena

Ms. Gilda C. Lucena has extensive background in Banking and Finance. She served as VP – Treasury of Westmont Investment Corp. and as President of Westmont Forex Corp. Ms. Lucena also has relevant experience in the life insurance and banking industries.

Ms. Lucena earned her baccalaureate degree from St. Theresa’s College. She also studied Strategic Business Economics Program from the University of Asia and the Pacific.

Cresencio R. Abes, MD

Dr. Cresencio R. Abes is a Surgeon. He was the very first awardee of the Philippine College of Surgeons’ (PCS) “Lifetime Achievement Award” for this invaluable contributions to the surgical society and the community. He was also recognized by the UST Hospital Department of Surgery as a “Thomasian Trailblazer” and “Living Legend”.

Dr. Abes earned his Bachelor’s Degree and Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of Santo Tomas.

Lourdes Ann D. Co, MD

Dr. Lourdes Ann D. Co is a Pediatrician specializing in neonatal medicine and pediatric infectious diseases. She currently serves as Head of the Transition Care Unit Newborn Services Unit at the Makati Medical Center. She also serves as Senior Active Consultant in Pediatrics at Cardinal Santos Medical Center.

Dr. Co earned her bachelor’s degree and Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Santo Tomas. She also underwent Pediatric residency at UST. She earned her Fellowship in Newborn Intensive Care from the University of Hongkong-Queen Mary Hospital, and her Fellowship in Research of Newborn Lung Biology at Harbour UCLA Medical Center.

Atty. Domingo M. Navarro

Atty. Domingo M. Navarro is a lawyer and academician. He served as Assistant Dean of San Beda College from 1988 to 2005, and later, at the College of Law of Angeles University Foundation. In 2016, he was appointed Dean of the Arellano University School of Law.

Atty. Navarro earned his Baccalaureate and Law degrees from San Beda College.

Atty. Juanito G. Arcilla

Atty. Juanito G. Arcilla is a lawyer and law professor. He is with the Brillantes Arcilla Martinez Diokno & Dela Cruz Law Offices.

Mr. Edgar C. de Asis has years of managerial experience in the banking and finance industry. He currently serves as Finance and Treasury Head of Caritas Health Shield, Inc., Caritas Life Insurance Corporation, and Caritas Financial Plans, Inc.

Mr. De Asis holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of the Philippines and a master’s degree in Business Administration from the Ateneo Graduate School of Business.

Atty. Elvira C. Chua is a lawyer. She served as Director of Prosecution Bureau IX of the Office of the Special Prosecutor, appearing before the Sandiganbayan. She also served as Assistant Ombudsman and head of the Prosecution and Monitoring Bureau of the Office of the Ombudsman.

Atty. Chua holds a bachelor’s degree in Commerce from De La Salle University and a bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Santo Tomas.

Ms. Rafe M. Diaz is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). She is currently serving as Chief Sales and Marketing Officer of Caritas Health Shield, Inc. She also sits in the Board of Directors of Caritas Life Insurance Corporation and Caritas Financial Plans, Inc.

Ms. Diaz holds a BSBA Major in Accounting from the Philippine School of Business Administration.

Mr. Jeffrey K. Yulde is currently the Senior Assistant Vice President for Marketing of Caritas Health Shield, Inc. He also sits as a member of the Board of Directors of Caritas Health Shield, Inc., Caritas Life Insurance and Caritas Financial Plans, Inc.

Mr. Yulde holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Marketing Management from De La Salle University. He also holds a post graduate degree in Management from the De La Salle Professional Schools, Inc.

Atty. Charles B. Escolin is a lawyer and law professor. He teaches various subjects on procedural law at the Angeles University Foundation School of Law, the Centro Escolar University School of Law, and at the Arellano University School of Law. He currently serves as Corporate Secretary of Caritas Health Shield, Inc., Caritas Life Insurance Corporation, and Caritas Financial Plans, Inc.

Atty. Escolin earned his bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from the Seminary of St. Pius X, and his bachelor’s degree in Law from San Beda College.

Ms. Rosalyn D. Martinez has extensive experience in both public and private organizations working on advocacies such as gender and development and anti-corruption, among others.

Ms. Martinez holds a baccalaureate degree in Journalism, cum laude, from the UP College of Mass Communication; post-graduate units in Industrial Relations major in Labor Policy and Administration from the UP School of Labor and Industrial Relations; and a Juris Doctor degree from the UP College of Law.
